Part of Age reversal: clearing old cells
The basics
What it is
Fisetin is one of three flavonols that a review looked at for prostate and bladder cancer. Flavonols are a class of flavonoids, which are commonly found in fruit and vegetables.
How it's thought to work
The review found fisetin has been shown to prevent the activation of several signaling pathways that promote inflammation. The review reported fisetin improves mitochondrial function (the cell's energy parts) and promotes autophagy (cells clearing out waste).
What the research has found so far
The review's results imply a positive outlook for fisetin and the other substances as a possible Alzheimer's treatment. A review found fisetin can reduce cell injury in the heart, brain, kidney, and liver after blood flow is blocked and restored.
