What we found
- None of the 19 has reached stage 4: none is approved by the FDA or recommended in a major guideline for aging. 3 reach stage 3, large studies in people (Berberine, Omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin D); the other 16 are at stage 2, small studies in people. How stages work.
- For 18 of 19, animal and lab studies outnumber randomized trials in people. The widest gaps: 114 animal and lab studies to 1 randomized trial for Alpha-ketoglutarate; 323 animal and lab studies to 4 randomized trials for Taurine; 318 animal and lab studies to 7 randomized trials for Pterostilbene.
- Fisetin has no randomized trial in people on PubMed on its use for aging, though we list 5 products containing it.
- 6 of 19 have no meta-analysis (a study that pools earlier trials) on their use for aging: Alpha-ketoglutarate, Fisetin, GlyNAC, NR, Spermidine, Urolithin A.
- Most products, least evidence: Fisetin: 5 products, 0 randomized trials; GlyNAC: 6 products, 1 randomized trial; NMN: 11 products, 7 randomized trials.
- The most studied in people: Vitamin D (156 randomized trials, 34 meta-analyses) and Omega-3 fatty acids (127 randomized trials, 24 meta-analyses). More studies don't mean a supplement works for aging; they mean the question has been tested more.
This is a count of research, not a rating. It doesn't say whether any supplement works or is safe for you. Talk to your doctor before taking supplements.

Method
- Supplements: every supplement Longevity Verdict tracks (19), chosen because people commonly take them for aging. Their research stages are set by fixed rules from published records; see the rules.
- Randomized trials, meta-analyses, animal and lab studies: PubMed records matching each supplement's search in relation to aging (the search is on each supplement's page), filtered by PubMed's own publication types. Counts are search results and can include papers that only mention a supplement.
- Registered and completed trials: interventional studies on ClinicalTrials.gov matching each supplement, for any condition, so these are larger than the aging-specific PubMed counts.
- Products we list: products on Longevity Verdict that contain the supplement, read from makers' own pages. Used only as a rough sign of how widely each is sold.
- Date: counts as of October 17, 2026. Live, updated counts are on each supplement's page.
